Its been too long ....
I can’t believe that it has been two months since I posted! Nothing like moving into a new house, cleaning, decorating, unpacking, more decorating, more unpacking etc to keep me busy. It’s been a brilliant two months (yes, even the decorating bit) here in Largs. It is everything we hoped for and definitely worth the stress of selling our old house in Manchester. I’m out walking most days, getting to know the town and spending time by the sea - I feel so lucky to have had the means to make this move.
There are things that we still need to do before we can be fully settled. We’re hoping to convert the attic to make a studio / 4th bedroom and redesign the garden to include a big shed that I can use for storage and for printing in the summer months. I’m hoping to get my sewing machine out later this week so that I can at least work on an unfinished piece. Before then I need to cut off the end of a duvet ….. who knew than an IKEA king size is 200cm long instead of the 180cm we’re used to in the UK?
Over the last two months I’ve also given two talks, the first at a Region 16 area day in Perth and the second to Cupar Quilters, in Fife. It was great to meet old friends and to make new ones. Big thanks to the organisers. I also taught my 5-day Luscious Layers workshop at InStitches, near Wokingham. It was a great class and a delight to see how much progress the students made. I’ll be teaching the same workshop next November at InStitches. The workshop is already full but you can go on a waiting list by contacting Hazel Ryder on hazel@institchestextilecourses.co.uk.
There are still 2 places left on the 3 day residential workshop I’m teaching at Higham Hall near Cockermouth at the end of January. You can find more information here.
And finally, I would like to say a truly heartfelt thanks to everyone that took the time to email me with kind words and support over the last 20 months or so and to those who reached out when the flooding happened in Largs a couple of weeks ago. I feel loved x
